After a year’s wait, Boise Underground Media is officially back! We’ve been very busy, but we’re looking to get back on the grind of publishing new articles, videos, and more!

Renovations

You might notice our website looks significantly different. We’ve simplified things, removed older content, and made everything easier to understand. Seasoned web design nerds may realize we’re using a default WordPress theme, but no need to worry – I’m working on a fully custom theme that will be BUM’s own forever!

As part of renovating the website, I’ve archived our old content. Although we realize everyone starts somewhere, some of those older articles are just not up to the standards we hold for ourselves. Fear not! We’ll be adding an archive section to the website soon with the BUM classics, revised for corrections of course.

Future Content

Now that we’ve got a nice new website layout, let’s talk content. Like I mentioned earlier, the old BUM articles are gone (temporarily), but most certainly not forgotten. In addition to re-releasing old articles on here, we’ve been discussing our very first BUM print edition, filled with all the original BUM content and more! If you’d be interested in purchasing a copy or contributing an article/artwork for Vol. I of the BUM zine series, DM us on our Instagram!

Aside from recycling content, we’ve got a few new articles in the works we’re very excited to share. I’ve come to realize that, while spotlighting releases I love is fun, writing music reviews is not what I enjoy doing. Inspired by the more philosophical culture reporting of Radio Študent and countless conversations we’ve had within and without BUM, I’m going to be focusing more on interviews, cultural analysis, and less “standard” reviews of media I enjoy!

Despite the delay, we do indeed have video interviews from Treefort! TMF 13 went great – no bad luck to be seen – and we had the opportunity to see countless new bands rip it up in downtown Boise. We sat down with a few of them to discuss inspiration, clothing, and good old fashioned Treefort vibes. We will hopefully be getting those out in the near future.

This is just a preview of some of the content we have planned alongside organizing shows around Boise, so keep an eye out for these and more coming this year!
